I am running the Colorado Marathon (26.2 miles) in Fort Collins Colorado on May 9, 2010. I am running to collect donations for the Mackenzie Saunders Medical Fund. Mackenzie and her parents are dear friends that live right next door to me. In December, Mackenzie collided with another player on the soccer field during a game and injured her spinal cord resulting in partial paralysis. Mackenzie was in several hospitals and needs physical therapy twice a week. The good news is Mackenzie is improving everyday and she is in good spirits. The bad news is the family is faced with huge medical bills. I have decided that if Mackenzie can learn to walk again and face her situation with such grace and courage, I can run 26.2 miles and collect donations to help her through her fight.

The race is in 10 weeks and I am asking each of you for your help in my effort. I hope to raise at least $1000 for the medical fund. I have already donated $200 toward my goal and ask that you give whatever you can. Anything you can give will be greatly appreciated by the family.

If you can donate, please send me (or just give me) a check made out to “Mackenzie Saunders Medical Fund”.  I will collect all the checks and present them to the family.
